Greetings and welcome to Garfield Elementary School.

Garfield has a family atmosphere, which stresses a caring and giving educational experience. We have strong parental support that provides many unique opportunities for our students. We are small enough to be a family, yet large enough to provide many exciting educational opportunities!

Garfield Elementary is able to offer all the same opportunities that all Alexandria Public Elementary Schools offer. Special area teachers instruct in the areas of physical education, music, art, science and orchestra. Specialized instruction is offered through Reading Intervention, Reading Corps, Special Education, and High Potential programming. These specialists along with classroom teachers make sure that every student is provided the opportunity to succeed.

The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meets regularly. All parents are automatically part of the PAC. We appreciate the many volunteers that give time, energy, and talent to help enhance student learning. Please let us know if you are interested in being a volunteer.

School Motto: "Grow, Learn, Belong"

Garfield Elementary was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School in 2013. The Blue Ribbon School Award is a National Award that is given out each year to a select few schools. Garfield School is proud to have been a recipient, and we continue to strive to maintain the high standards which allowed us to be chosen for the Blue Ribbon School Award.
