May 19, 2020

Parents/Guardians of Seniors,

You received some general information last night immediately following the board’s approval of our proposed graduation plan. The board confirmed that we will recognize the class of 2020 on May 29th. We appreciate your patience as we work to communicate the details for each event over the course of the next two weeks. At this time, we have the following information to add to last night’s communication.

First Mailing Coming Out Today
Each family will receive a 6 x 9 envelope containing a program for Baccalaureate. Remember, this is an optional event sponsored by the local churches for the senior class. Another traditional event is Honors Night.  In previous years, students who are recognized that night receive an invitation. This year, if your child is being recognized, the program for that event will be included in the mailing.   All are welcome to watch the Virtual Honors Night.

Please go to for links to Baccalaureate and Honors Night ceremonies.

Second Mailing
Each family will receive a second mailing being sent out Friday, May 22nd. This mailing will include the program for Commencement and details regarding the graduation events being held on May 29th. All students picked up their tassel earlier in May. Those who have earned a gold or silver tassel will receive the additional tassel in this mailing. If your child’s grade point average increases after calculating second semester GPA’s, your child will receive the appropriate tassel.

We have received questions regarding the photo opportunity at AAHS after the virtual ceremony. At this time, we want you to know:

  • Graduates will be allowed one single-family vehicle per household.  We will communicate directly with graduates who have multiple parent homes to accommodate a second vehicle. Graduates will be assigned a 4:45 or 5:45 time slot to arrive for this event to ensure efficient flow of traffic and to avoid significant delays.
  • We have a photographer who will take a professional photo of each graduate while they are on stage. The district will provide a 5x7 for each individual and parents are welcome to access the digital copy online. The individual photo will be mailed at a later date.
  • We will livestream the cap & gown walk-through for family and friends to watch from home. A recording of this event will be posted on the Class of 2020 webpage for all to view.

We will send more details regarding events in the second mailing. If important items come up, we will share them with you via email. Please visit for information about events and our outstanding class of 2020.
