First of all, my heart goes out to all of our seniors. There is no “right” decision in this unfortunate circumstance. A circumstance that we would all change - if we could. Our main goal is to honor our graduates while keeping everyone safe. The district has made a final decision to move forward with honoring our graduates on our original planned date of May 29th. We will honor our graduates with three events on this date.
Virtual Graduation Ceremony starting at 3:30 p.m.
This virtual graduation ceremony will be a quality video ceremony that everyone will be able to watch via the internet.
Optional Photo Opportunity at AAHS starting at 4:45 p.m.
Graduates are welcome to come to AAHS starting at 4:45pm. We will have an outdoor stage set up for each student to walk across and receive their diploma from school board members and administration. This event will be live streamed.
Escorted Graduation Procession at 8:30 p.m.
There will be a procession through Alexandria to celebrate our seniors. Line-up for the procession will begin at 8:15pm at Discovery Middle School. The escorted procession will start at 8:30pm and will follow a designated route throughout town.
Informal Gathering - TBD
Once Governor Walz allows large gatherings, we will send an invite to all seniors and parents to come to AAHS for an informal outdoor gathering which will include grilled food, opportunities for students to sign yearbooks and take pictures together.
