Alexandria Public Schools names new Asst Supt - Teaching and Learning
April 28, 2020 ALEXANDRIA, Minn.--Alexandria Public Schools (APS) proudly announces the selection of Darcy Josephson to the position of Assistant Superintendent – Teaching and Learning. School Board approval is expected at the May 18 regular board meeting. She will join APS this summer taking over the position vacated by Rick Sansted, who will assume the Superintendent position effective July 1.
Josephson is currently the Director of Teaching and Learning for the Redwood Area School District (Redwood Falls), a position she has held since 2008. During her time in teaching and learning she has served as the district assessment coordinator, facilitated curriculum review, planned professional development and helped build a Career and Technical Education center in partnership with the local businesses and agriculture community.
Prior to her current role, Josephson brings over 20 years of experience in various roles –as a coordinator for flexible learning year professional development for 25 school districts across southwest Minnesota, curriculum/staff development/assessment coordinator, gifted and enrichment coordinator, and elementary teacher.

Her expertise will be an asset to our community as we continue to seek to provide quality learning experiences for our students and staff.”
Josephson holds a bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead in elementary education; a master’s degree in education from Hamline University; education administration K-12 principal licensure from Saint Mary’s University; and superintendent licensure from Minnesota State University Mankato.
Darcy and her husband Mark, have three sons – Logan, Zach and Connor. Logan and Zach attend college and Connor is a junior in high school.
