November 18, 2019 ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-- At the regular board meeting held November 18, the Alexandria School Board took action to accept a retirement letter from Julie Critz, Superintendent of Schools effective on June 30, 2020 at the end of the current school year.
Upon her retirement, Critz will have served as superintendent for five years but has been a district staff member since 2001. Her administrative career with Alexandria Public Schools includes serving as an elementary principal, curriculum and instruction director, and assistant superintendent, before becoming superintendent in 2015.
"Being a part of the A Team family for the past 18 years has been a tremendous blessing," Critz said. "I am proud of the strong, collaborative culture we have created together, where everyone works hard for the benefit of students."
“Julie’s impact on the Alexandria Public School District is both deep and broad, and that impact will continue to benefit future generations of students for years to come,” stated Dean Anderson, School Board Chair.
The School Board will work with the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) in the superintendent search process. More details about timing and process will be discussed at a December 4 work session, with the goal that a new superintendent will be named and ready to start July 1, 2020 to ensure a seamless transition.
