School Board Election 2024
Notice of School Board Election
A school board election will be held in and for Independent School District No. 206 (Alexandria Public Schools) on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 for the purpose of electing three school board members for four-year terms. If more than two candidates file affidavits of candidacy for any specific seat, Minnesota Statutes, Section 205A.03 requires that nominees must be chosen at a primary election.
Notice of Filing Dates for Election to the School Board
The period for filing Affidavits of Candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 206 shall begin on May 21, 2024, and shall close at 5:00 p.m. on June 4, 2024. See the Official Notice.
Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk, 1410 S. McKay Ave, Ste. 201, Alexandria, MN beginning May 21, 2024. The filing fee for this office is $2.
School Board Election
The filing period for the school board election closed on June 4th. Five candidates have filed for the three open seats, broken down as follows:
- Position #1: Tracy Capistrant and Phil Sammon
- Position #6: Elizabeth Paul
- Position #7: Angie Krebs and Monty Normand
With no more than two candidates for each position, no primary election is required. All current candidates will be placed on the ballot for the November 5 general election.
Notice of Filing Dates for Election to the School Board
The period for filing Affidavits of Candidacy for the office of school board member Position #6 of Independent School District No. 206 shall be extended due to a non-partisan vacancy in nomination. The extended filing period will begin on June 7, 2024, and shall close at 5:00 p.m. on June 11, 2024. See the Official Notice.

The General Election is Tuesday, November 5. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
