The Finance department provides professional services that support the school district’s educational and operational goals while being responsible for the overall fiscal management of the district. This includes Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Budget, Annual Audit, Payroll & Benefits, and Student Accounting.

In accordance with state law, Alexandria Public Schools has an independent audit performed each year. The district contracts with the independent auditing firm Eide Bailly, LLP to complete the audit. Minnesota school districts' fiscal year ends June 30th.

Budget Advisory Council
Budget/Finance Advisory Council
Alexandria Public Schools (APS) has an organization named the Budget/Finance Advisory Council (BFAC). The purpose of the BFAC is to provide public input, advise and support the APS School Board and district administration in evaluating possible economic conditions the district may face in developing future budget assumptions, long-range financial planning and providing insights, when requested, as to the overall fiscal condition of the district.

Alexandria Public Schools facilities consist of more than 995,000 square feet of floor space and over 403 acres of property excluding leased space.

The Board of Education of Alexandria Public Schools recognizes the desirability of having the District's school facilities and community centers used as much as possible by community groups to promote educational, recreational, cultural and civic activities of the community.
Public school facilities exist primarily for the purpose of serving the educational needs of the youth in the community. No group or organization will be scheduled if requested use interferes with Alexandria Public School programs or sponsored activities. Alexandria Public Schools will determine the most appropriate and available use of the district's facility space.
