There are numerous opportunities available for students in the band program at Alexandria Area High School.

 

Each of the four concert bands (Viking Band, Runestone Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble) at AAHS is a curriculum-based class that meets every other day for rehearsals. The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble are auditioned based groups and have additional performing opportunities. Lessons are provided for everyone in the program and are required.

 

Extra performance opportunities include:

 

         • Jazz I and Jazz II

         • Pep Band

         • Honor Bands

         • Central Lakes All-Conference Band

         • Solo and Ensemble Contest.

 

The Marching Band includes students from the high school band, choir and orchestra programs. The Marching Band traditionally travels in the summer and performs in approximately 6 parades statewide, in addition to taking a trip every other year. In June of 2015, the band traveled to Norway to perform in the Stabekk Band's Centennial celebration.  This was the bands first international trip.  In 2017 the band traveled to Boston, Bristol, and New York to march in two awesome 4th of July parades.
