Progress is visible at both the Discovery and Woodland sites as the construction continues. After some challenging weather, the Woodland site is now enclosed. Roofing work continues at Discovery Middle School.
January 10, 2022 DMS & EEC Construction Updates
Even with challenging weather making things complicated, the construction project is progressing as planned, and the ongoing work has not deviated from the proposed schedule. We have had and anticipate some delays in the delivery of essential construction materials. Still, plans and procedures have been made to keep the completion date close to the original. Given a couple of changes to the schedule, one positive is that the roof systems for both sites being slightly delayed will delay the need for construction heating. This ultimately saves dollars and gets us closer to manageable weather conditions! The progress thus far is exciting to see. Over the next month or so, January 10th – mid-February, it will appear as though not much is happening at the DMS site due to the delay of construction materials (roof system). However, we anticipate that the WES site will make good progress since the project size is smaller. The materials are on hand to get this structure roofed and closed, creating the opportunity to focus labor and progress on this project.
September 16 DMS & EEC Construction Updates
DMS Facility Addition
The project was delayed slightly with the recent rainfalls, but we met the deadline for getting the storm sewer re-routed and the north driveway at Discovery reconstructed in time for the start of school. As is evident throughout the industry, delivery times of materials are creating challenges for contractors to get materials and schedule projects. Timelines are hard to hold fast to. With that said, at our most recent construction meeting, we were informed we are on schedule to have the necessary ground work done prior to the ground freezing. This is good news in that when we do get delivery of our precast wall materials, and the roof systems, we will be ready and things will start to show progress. In the meantime, the progress we will see from now until mid-December will be intermittent. We have been told that if the previous mentioned delivery dates are hit, we can stay on schedule for a significant finish date of September 2022.
EEC Facility Addition The foundation for the addition at the Early Education Center is scheduled for completion prior to the ground freezing. In the meantime, the progress we will see from now until mid-December will be intermittent. We have been told that if the previous mentioned delivery dates are hit, we can stay on schedule for a significant finish date of September 2022.
August 23 DMS Construction Update
Grey pipe in the ceiling is the new hydronic and domestic water lines that were increased in size and extended to accommodate the addition in the future. Those are getting insulated as we speak and that should be completed by the end of this week. Electrical contractors are on site this week extending the conduit they will need for wires. The new suspended ceiling will go in next week. The new sewer main from the building to the street is done, and the rerouted storm drain system looks to be almost in place and they plan to pave the north drive next week.
