    UPDATED 1/8/2021

    A Team Families:

Alexandria Public Schools (APS) is pleased to announce that school meals will be available at no charge to students enrolled in APS for school year 2020-2021. This applies to meals provided at school, meals that secondary students take home on the days they are doing distance learning from home, and all students opting for full-time distance learning.  If your student is doing distance learning from home and would now wish to sign up for meal pick up, please call the Food and Nutrition Services Office at 320-762-3315. Only students who are currently enrolled in APS are eligible for free meals.

Please note, this is a change in original plans due to a U.S. Department of Agriculture waiver allowing school meals to be served free of charge to all students.  All families are still encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits, since any approval will carry over for 30 school days in School Year 2021-2022. Applications may be completed online or on paper.  A new application must be completed each school year.

Completing the application may assist your students and the school district in receiving benefits. For example, students may receive free meals, free or reduced fees for transportation, athletic programs, academic and extracurricular activities. School districts may receive additional state and federal funding.

Additional Change to All Families Choosing Distance Learning EFFECTIVE 9-16-20
We are changing our pick up time to make it more convenient for families. Starting Wednesday, September 16, meal pick up will now be at 4:00-4:30 pm on Wednesdays, curbside at Alexandria Area High School Main South Entrance. Students will receive 5 days worth of breakfast, lunch or both

Don't Forget Your Take Home Meal
Students have the option to take home both breakfast and lunch for the next day.  For AAHS students, meals are available at the front door and the hallway by PAC at the end of the school day.  For DMS students, meals will be available at the doors as students exit the front and back of the school building.  Breakfast will be continental style and most lunches will be microwavable.  We've included some of your favorites!  Listen to the morning announcements for the day's meals.  If you need nutritional information, please contact the FNS office.
