Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the early signs of spring! As we move into April, I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates and exciting events happening within our school community.
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to all of our students, families, and staff for their continued dedication and resilience throughout the past months. Your support and cooperation have been invaluable in ensuring a safe and enriching learning environment for everyone. As we dive into our testing season, please continue that support and encourage your children to do their best when it comes to testing. The results of these tests are compared within the district and the state to drive our decisions.
We have a lot of events going on at our GMC schools, so make sure you are keeping up with the school calendar and teacher communications. Starting next week, we will have the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments for students in grades 3, 4, and 5. We will hold the Science testing for students in grade 5 on April 9th and 10th. Reading testing for grades 3, 4 and 5 will take place on April 16th and 17th, while Math testing will take place for grades 3, 4 and 5 on April 23th and 24th. On the day of testing, please make sure students are well rested and bring wired headphones and pencils. Due to this being a standardized test, we are not allowed to have visitors on those testing dates.
Each year, the National Weather Service sponsors Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota and this year it is being held April 8th-12th. The week is designed to refresh, remind and educate everyone about the seasonal threats from severe weather and how to avoid them. It's also a great time to make and practice your emergency plan and build or refresh your emergency preparedness kit. Our schools will be practicing our severe weather plan on April 11th at 1:00 during the statewide simulated tornado drill.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. My door is always open, and I welcome your feedback.
Thank you once again for your continued partnership, and I look forward to all that April has in store for us!
Thank you, parents, for all that you do,
Warm regards,
Troy Wunderlich
